Canterbury focuses on the valuation of institutional properties throughout the metropolitan Washington, DC, market. He specializes in office properties and large-scale, mixed-use development projects.

Prior to 星空体育app下载, Canterbury was a principal of DC Appraisals LLC, a boutique commercial real estate appraisal firm specializing in institutional properties in Washington, DC, and Northern Virginia. Canterbury had founded DC Appraisals with Jane Diven, MAI, MRICS, also an executive vice president with 星空体育app下载 V&A, in 2016 to provide high-quality appraisals to a select clientele.
Prior to DC Appraisals, Canterbury held several senior-level positions in the Washington, DC, office of Cushman & Wakefield Valuation & Advisory. Most recently, he served as a senior managing director for the Mid-Atlantic region, responsible for sourcing, managing and reviewing approximately 2,000 appraisals a year with annual combined values of $40 to $50 billion. He also managed the region’s staff of 20-plus appraisers and employees. Previously at C&W, Canterbury specialized in office properties in the District of Columbia and Northern Virginia, serving as a managing director and before that as a senior director. Prior to that, he worked for five years as a senior real estate analyst with CBRE’s Valuation Services team. Canterbury was first hired by Cushman & Wakefield in 1997 as a senior appraiser, a position he held for the next four years.
Before beginning his appraisal career, Canterbury worked for six years at Kentstone, Ltd., a commercial and residential development firm based in The Plains, Virginia. As a vice president, his responsibilities included construction management and superintendent functions. He joined this firm after working briefly as an accountant.
